Core Knowledge UK Resource Books

resource book

The Core Knowledge UK resource books bring alive educational content and help develop children's knowledge and skills in the arts, humanities and sciences in Years 1 to 6. The series of resource books helps parents, family members, teachers and home educators support primary school children's education. They also provide educational guidance and activities to engage children with learning and help them develop a strong foundation of knowledge that builds on what they learn in school.

What Your Year 1 Child Needs to Know is the first in the series of six books—one for each primary school year—for parents, grandparents and children to enjoy. What Your Year 2 Child Needs to Know was published in August and What Your Year 3 Child Needs to Know was published in December 2012. What Your Year 4 Child Needs to Know will be published in Spring 2013.

We are proud that Sir Nicholas Serota, Director of Tate Britain, recently stated: 'Creativity, the arts and design are crucial to the environment and life of every citizen. They should occupy a central place in the curriculum at both primary and secondary levels. The new series published by Civitas, giving examples of how the arts and creativity can play a part in the education of every child, is a real contribution to the teaching of these subjects in all our schools.'
