# Solving Word Problems Using Multiplication

In word problems, the important step is deciding what mathematical problem you need to solve. Once you can write the problem in numbers, then you can solve it. Solve these word problems using multiplication:

1. At the beach, Andrea found 8 shells. Jeff found 5 times as many shells. How many shells did Jeff find?

2. Megan’s red truck needs 15 litres of fuel to travel 100 km. How much fuel does she need to travel 700 km? (Hint: How many hundreds are there in 700?)

3. If the red truck travels 5 times faster than the bike and the bike travels 12 miles in an hour, how far will the truck travel in an hour?
